Collection Development

One of the many responsibilities of the Collection Services team is to handle the various tasks involved in the development of the Library's collections. The Library's Collection Development Committee is responsible for writing and reviewing the Library's collection development policy. The final approval of this policy rests with all of the librarians as well as the dean. Together, all of the librarians select materials needed to support the educational and research mission of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Calvin T. Ryan Library and Information Access: Collection Development Policy

The purpose of the Calvin T. Ryan Library Collection Development Policy is to guide the selection of materials to be added to the collections, whether by purchase or gift, to meet the information needs of students and faculty and to build the collections that support the curriculum and research of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
